Understanding CoHost’s New Listener Metric

What is CoHost’s New Listener Metric?

CoHost’s New Listener Metric helps you identify how many listeners are tuning in for the very first time. Unlike Unique Listeners, which will show you recurring listeners across episodes, New Listeners will show you a simple count of how many first-time listeners you’ve had over a timeframe.

CoHost shows you the total number of new listeners across chosen timeframes, giving you a clear picture of audience growth beyond total downloads and unique listeners.

What are the benefits of measuring new listeners?

Here are some benefits and ways you can leverage CoHost’s New Listener Metric:

  • Gain a more accurate picture of audience growth.
  • Separate new listeners to measure loyalty and engagement.
  • Spot trends in listener growth following new promotion campaigns.
  • Report growth with greater confidence to clients, sponsors, and leadership teams.
  • Benchmark podcast health over time by tracking consistent growth intervals.

Our recommendation? Pair New Listeners with other CoHost data like Tracking Link Analytics, B2B Analytics, Consumption Data, and Advanced Audience Demographics to uncover who new listeners may be and where they came from.
